I also think AOC isn't helping, for the same reason.

India is building huge solar plants at a cost of $1 per watt of capacity. A lot cheaper source of electricity than burning coal.

I am still not convinced that non-carbon renewables can provide 100% of our electric needs, particularly if we start using more electric cars, trains and heat. I believe that nuclear is absolutely necessary.

That China, an NPT nuclear state, is building coal plants instead of nuclear is pathetic. Although it might be a case of being careful what you wish for.

Some question the conversion to electric because of the strain on the power grid if every car had to be charged. I haven't done the math or seen any articles regarding that, though I'm sure they were written. I imagine the sunbelt can handle such a thing. Outside of the blue islands (where they ration power via the crap "smartgrid"*), i never see brownouts.

I am more concerned about security of the electric grid everywhere outside of Texas. Iran's program of not practicing its aim or to actually hit anything on the ground spells only one thing. And given that the Democrats have repeatedly voted no and blocked beefing up the grid to withstand such an assault makes me wary of putting everything possible on a centralized grid**.

*It's funny that the cities with the highest electric car usage is also one with the mandatory smart-grid system. Too bad the corrupt city would rather charge you more to put in its own solar panels than to give you your own.
**I meantion centralized, because there was a time when nearly everyone had their own power plants. Streetcars, factories, stores, resorts.

The planet is warming & has been since the last ice age. Thats a given.
What I don't get is that within the last 150 yrs or so, there were tens of thousands of steam engines, belching out coal smoke exhaust, cities burned garbage in municipal incinerators, apartment houses burned coal for heat & hot water and burned their garbage, even in NYC there was a fat rendering plant in Greenpoint that made the air stink and on bad days, if there was a temp inversion, the stench would go out to a 50 mi radius, at least.
And yet, there were crippling blizzards, sub zero cold snaps & record tornado and hurricane outbreaks & nobody questioned human activity input as having an effect on climate.
Point of all this is how much of what is happening today can be DIRECTLY attributed to man made activity?
Inquiring minds want to know!

1. No. While it was still warmer than during the ice age, there was the Little Ice Age during the late Middle Ages and early modern period. So, there are cycles.
2. That hurt too. It’s not like man-made global warming only started in 1990. But a lot of that was particulates that don’t cause global warming, not CO2. CO2 is odorless and colorless, and water vapor appears white. That black smoke is not CO2. Essentially all we’ve done is made our pollution invisible, way more CO2 exhaust occurs today.
3. This isn’t true. Scientists have been studying and writing about global warming for decades now.
4. Weather≠climate. And extreme weather events are more common thanks to global warming.

The total CO2 output during the Industrial Revolution was way less than the current output. Coal burning power plants and oil burning cars don't put out as many particulates, but they still put out the CO2.

On the iPhone or iPad: General->keyboards->Text replacement. I created a new shortcut where the phrase is ≠ and the shortcut is != . So when i type the latter, it autocorrects into the former. I also did something similar with ¶, π,  and ‽. As for how I got those letters in the first place: I copied and pasted from Google or Wikipedia (except for the Apple logo, which I think I got from a Mac). Also, I have the set of vulgar fractions, ℅, ℗, ©, ® and ™, although I think those were built in.
