Some question the conversion to electric because of the strain on the power grid if every car had to be charged. I haven't done the math or seen any articles regarding that, though I'm sure they were written. I imagine the sunbelt can handle such a thing. Outside of the blue islands (where they ration power via the crap "smartgrid"*), i never see brownouts.

I am more concerned about security of the electric grid everywhere outside of Texas. Iran's program of not practicing its aim or to actually hit anything on the ground spells only one thing. And given that the Democrats have repeatedly voted no and blocked beefing up the grid to withstand such an assault makes me wary of putting everything possible on a centralized grid**.

*It's funny that the cities with the highest electric car usage is also one with the mandatory smart-grid system. Too bad the corrupt city would rather charge you more to put in its own solar panels than to give you your own.
**I meantion centralized, because there was a time when nearly everyone had their own power plants. Streetcars, factories, stores, resorts.
