And the Virginia Assembly (I don't think they calling that, but the idea's the same....).

It's wonderful to see so many bright spots, meaning we really can hope for a better future if we work together for the change this nation (and all it affects) sorely needs.

House of Delegates.

The only states that refer to their lower house as the Assembly are NY, NJ (General Assembly), WI, CA, and NV. MD, VA, and WV use House of Delegates. All the rest except NE (unicameral) use House of Representatives. Every state except NE has a Senate.

Pfft, city folk.

We had two ballot initiatives.
#1 was a cryptic one that cited some numbers and did not explain at all what it was actually asking for (something like "In favor of #02468"?).
#2 was if we wanted to abolish the position of town tax collector and roll it into town clerk. I'm not sure if there will be more than 1 no vote on that one (from the current town tax collector).

Definitely not. Ranked choice mitigates the very thing which seems to have occurred in the race which started this thread.

The governorship would have likely gone to Bevin were there ranked choice voting: Beshear did not get more than 50% of the vote. The Libertarian took 2%. In a ranked choice world, Libertarian voters would have probably said (L) followed by (R), and since neither main candidate won a majority, the 2nd choice would have kicked in, which would have swung things towards Bevin.

Not to mention that if far-left Beshear gets in (I read his policy positions, which includes a 100% rating from Planned Parenthood and 0% from the NRA), he's up against a state government that is more Republican than Bevin's.

And that Beshear is the son of a once governor, and way more personable, the only thing to see here is that it's amazing how close it actually is. Only 4500-5000 votes. That's nothing. It's actually amazing that Beshear did this well in a die-hard Trump state like Kentucky. That tells me the blue 🌊 is rolling. That and the big win in Virginia, and even the historic upset in nearby Delaware County.

The last time Democrats controlled Delco, Lincoln was in the White House. These things say much about the waning of the "Trump effect", and show that GOP politicians on Trump's downticket might want to rethink their association with him.

The analysis of this shows reflects what happens when a highly unpopular incumbent runs. As if Aroy Moore didn’t,t teach them anything.

Word on the street is that trump’s showing up for that rally motivated A LOT of people to come out yesterday.
