Ranked choice mitigates the very thing which seems to have occurred in the race which started this thread.The governorship would have likely gone to Bevin were there ranked choice voting: Beshear did not get more than 50% of the vote. The Libertarian took 2%. In a ranked choice world, Libertarian voters would have probably said (L) followed by (R), and since neither main candidate won a majority, the 2nd choice would have kicked in, which would have swung things towards Bevin. |
