Republican Giuliani held a ticker tape parade for Sammy Sosa in 1998. Republican Bloomberg held ticker tape parades for the NY Football Giants (a NJ team that left NYC) in 2008 and 2012. The bigger waste of taxpayer money is for building stadiums for sports teams. Bloomberg used taxpayer monies for building new stadiums for the Yankees and Mets. Cuomo is building a new venue for the NY Islander hockey team near Belmont Park. He also wants to spend $300M to build a new LIRR station that's further away from the new location than the existing Belmont Park station.
