Actually, on Broadway, the terms "actor" or "thespian" are now used to describe all genders.

This is nothing new.

"Policeman" and "patrolman" became "police officer". "Fireman" is now "firefighter". "Motorman" was replaced by "train operator". "Stewardess" changed to "flight attendant". Even the world's oldest profession now uses "sex worker" instead of "prostitute" or "gigolo".
