This may be the most patriotic thing Mcconnell has done in years. This leak is in the taxpayers best interests. Now people can get in touch with their elected officials and demand they stop trump by all legal means available.

Is an asteroid about to fall from the sky?

Are nuclear missiles coming over the horizon?

Have terrorists blown up the White House?

Has an invading army occupied Florida?

We have a negative net migration rate with Mexico.

The only genuine "national emergency" is Trump himself.

Biggest irony is that all the legal experts say Mexico gets to take the forfeiture. And they get a troublesome prisoner off their hands for good.

The courts will challenge it and throw it down because there is no emergency. Republicans don't like it because of the precedent it could set for a future Democratic President.

Even if it survives that. Eminent Domain issues will hold it up for years.

One of the problems for any federal judge that gets the case, is that the National Emergency Act doesn't clearly defined what constitutes a national emergency. That leaves it open to the kind of abuse we are seeing now.

I think the courts, however, will tend to apply the "reasonable person" standard to determine what is really a national emergency.

What a "reasonable person", such as a judge or member of a jury, would agree is an actual national emergency.

Not getting your way with Congress is not an emergency of any kind.

Because you said President Trump would lose in 2016 (I know he lost the popular vote, but you had said popular and electoral vote) and the Republicans would lose the Senate in 2018 and neither happened. If anything, the Democrats LOST seats in the Senate in 2018. Right now there are candidates in the Democratic primary than can beat President Trump, but there are others thatw their nomination would guarantee a second term for President Trump.

I never said anything about it being in 2020. The fact is, history tells us that no one party will hold the Presidency forever. Since FDR and Truman, no party has held the Presidency more than 4 consecutive terms. Since then the same party has only held it 3 in a row once (Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush).

No, I always said the Senate, although possible, was a tossup. You forget the House. Don't neglect the unattractive to republicans Senate calendar for 2020. Don't forget that polls.... independent sources..... show trump losing to each and every likely and announced Democratic candidate. Don't neglect the fact he has never polled above 50% in any legitimate poll.

Face it, trump's chances are slim for 2020, without “outside intervention”. Which, BTW, should it becomes established was the case in 2016 may take the entire deal away.
