Zimmerman also had time to consider his actions, as evidenced by his decision to disregard the police dispatcher's instructions, and take matters into his own hands.I also believe the DA intentionally threw this case, for political reasons. |

My personal opinion is that a jury found him not guilty so that answers that question. Florida’s battery statutes carry substantial penalties, at the highest levels the same penalty as what Zimmerman was charged with. With the facts as they were it should have been an open and shut battery case versus a more difficult murder case. |

No attorney let's a client run up a fee that large w/o payment.I'm not convinced. Some of his attorneys may have thought the notoriety was worth it, and/or if things had turned out differently Zimmerman could have won a civil suit where they could have gotten paid. It's just one step further than taking a very chancy civil suit on a contingency basis. |

No one is saying that Trayvon Martin was a totally innocent. However, in terms of the facts that we know for him at that time... Walking along minding his business... He was very much as innocent as anyone else as he wasn't doing anything wrong. Do I think Zimmerman's actions were motivated by racism?... Absolutely! I realize that it's speculation, but I'd also say that had he been anything other than black (or latino) in the same situation... Nothing takes place. Of course no one can say what would've happened had Zimmerman followed the instruction from the police dispatcher, but as we know Zimmerman chose to ignore the dispatcher's instruction. So my thing is... whatever Zimmerman says about being in danger and so on... He himself is responsible for not standing down as instructed. |

Two department directors found that the deputy director of public safety would routinely profile student events that were organized by black or latino students. |
