No one is saying that Trayvon Martin was a totally innocent. However, in terms of the facts that we know for him at that time... Walking along minding his business... He was very much as innocent as anyone else as he wasn't doing anything wrong. Do I think Zimmerman's actions were motivated by racism?... Absolutely! I realize that it's speculation, but I'd also say that had he been anything other than black (or latino) in the same situation... Nothing takes place. Of course no one can say what would've happened had Zimmerman followed the instruction from the police dispatcher, but as we know Zimmerman chose to ignore the dispatcher's instruction. So my thing is... whatever Zimmerman says about being in danger and so on... He himself is responsible for not standing down as instructed. |
