Yes, most were white in my experience. And yes, it was noticeably bad, even in the wonderful areas. I didn't notice it as bad in LA, but you may be right, as the could have been similar to NY, so I was used to it. |

I by no means disagree with you many teacher from these schools are burnt out. You got the kids, lack of resources, over crowding, the pressures of test scores being used as evaluation tools against teachers and principals etc. I know a couple of teachers the one I speak to most is my cousin whose now a Vice Principal. She used to be a teacher in Brownsville. And she had a lot of complaints and rants but for every complaint she also had kids she spoke glowingly about. That seemed to be her reward helping and seeing the growth in individual kids even if she couldn't reach everybody. Helped her set up her class a couple times and the kids around the nieghborhood that recognized her loved her. |
