At some point, to maintain a Jewish majority of the electorate, Israel will need to strip them of their rights including the right to vote.Are you talking about Arab Israelis? The best way to reduce their birth rate is to provide sufficiently good economic conditions. And once that happens, a fair number of them will end up not voting in a bloc. (Yes I know I'm sweeping a huge number of issues under the rug, but it always works.) |

Have you ever stood on a street corner waiting for a bus and had to watch each and every car go by and be ready to run in case the driver decided to jump the curb and mow down anyone and anything in his path? Have you ever gone on a day trip to a place a few hours from home and get home to a bunch of emails and texts asking if you're OK because there was a terror attack two hours earlier? Have you had to pass through multiple police and military checkpoints on said drive? Have you had to submit to security searches just to enter bus stations, supermarkets, restaurants, university campuses, and other public places to the point you think it is common and know how to rearrange all your belongings (wallet, key, phone) so that you can get through the check more quickly? Let me know if the answer to any of those questions is "yes" and then perhaps we can talk. |

The US, as a superpower (at least until Trump totally scuttles that notion in the eyes of the international community either by continuing to suck up to Putin and/or through idiotic policy decisions), is supposedly a "neutral" party trying to bring the Israelis and Palestinians to a peaceful resolution of their decades long conflict through negotiations. No one cares where Costa Rica locates its embassy (it was in Mevaseret Tzion, a Jerusalem suburb, until 2006 when it was the last embassy in the Jerusalem area and is now in Tel Aviv) because Costa Rica isn't mediating the peace process, no matter how dormant it might be. OTOH, people DO notice and care what the US does in this regard. Like it or not, that's how the world works. |

Why not appear with Chuck Schumer, who voted for the Jerusalem Embassy Act when he was in the House in 1995 to demonstrate this is a move with bipartisan support? Why not appear with a representative of the Israeli embassy, a short 20 minute drive from the White House? Instead he appeared with Mike Pence, whose religiosity and past statements suggest he isn't "pro-Israel" in the way Jews are. You think the Christian right, which continues to support Trump despite POTUS lacking any of the moral values they claim to support, didn't notice those choices? I bet you they did. And as a Jew and Zionist, self-determination isn't going to come from the likes of Mike Pence and CUFI. |
