My sister-in-law and brother-in-law owned a business until very recently in an industry that is known for its use of illegal aliens. They were scrupulously careful to make sure everyone they hired was a legal resident, I'm pretty sure by using e-verify. They were warned by their lawyer that it could cost them big bucks if they got caught having hired any illegals. I just don't understand why they were at such risk, yet other business owners evidently seem to think it's no big deal to hire illegals. |

The Constitution mandates Congress regulate interstate commerce. Cars are sold nationally, and roads go into and out of the states as well. As I said elsewhere, the atmosphere does not recognize states boundaries. Nor do oceans, rivers and lakes. There is some room for discussion for education, but given how many states fail at public schools (funny how they're concentrated in the.....here we go again!) there's a strong argument for Federal oversight to ensure some standard is reached. |
