Well, he does say unwed mothers shouldn't be given a hard time. But I missed the encylicals where he advocated gay marriage and use of contraception.

Thanks, Pig.

The Swiss Guard would never allow anyone near the Pope's bathtub. However, those refugees referred to in the article would be granted asylum, given food and a place to bathe and handled through the Vatican diplomacy. That's how this Pope would roll. I hope he does this....it would be a meaningful stunt. Bring a bunch of refugee children with him. Make INS give them asylum., like all these kids should get, especially those with family already here. Any bridge across the Rio Granda would do.

Kids that can be placed with family already here do not add expenses to the taxpayer. In fact, many of these kids are focused on getting jobs when here as well as completing their educations. They'll be paying taxes before long too, what with legal status.

Actually, there are quite a few people who try to sneak across the northern border too.

Smuggling is one reason. Also, if you are from China, it's easy to get to Vancouver on a visitor's visa. Then all you need is a short rough bushwack through the woods or a long hike on a well-maintained trail, and you're in the US of A.

Pope Francis told a group of reporters Monday that he doesn’t plan to travel to Mexico this year.

But next time he does visit, the pope raised the possibility of walking across the U.S.-Mexico border to show support for immigrants, according to a report from Spanish newswire EFE.

“To enter the United States from the border with Mexico would be a beautiful gesture of brotherhood and support for immigrants,” Francis told reporters aboard the papal airplane returning to Rome from the Philippines.

He added, jokingly, that he wouldn’t be able to visit Mexico unless he had time to pay homage to the widely revered Virgen de Guadalupe at the basilica in Mexico City.

“A war would break out and I don’t have time,” Francis said.

Pope Francis has tentative plans to travel to Washington in September, before moving on to New York to speak at the U.N. General Assembly, according to Catholic News Agency. Reporters had asked whether he planned to visit Mexico while he was in North America, but he said he wouldn’t have time.

“Later there will be time to go to Mexico,” Pope Francis said, according to NBC News.

In a separate trip from the U.S. visit, the first Latin American pope plans to travel to Ecuador, Bolivia and Paraguay this year, followed by Chile, Argentina and Uruguay in 2016. Peru is a possibility as well, though the pope added that none of the plans have been finalized.

Pope Francis has repeatedly expressed his sympathy for immigrants, whether referring to Mexicans or Central Americans traveling to the United States, or Africans traveling to Europe.

During a border crisis over the summer in which more than 60,000 unaccompanied minors crossed illegally into the United States, nearly all from Central America, Pope Francis urged the U.S. to welcome the child migrants.

"This humanitarian emergency requires, as a first urgent measure, these children be welcomed and protected,” Francis said last year. “These measures, however, will not be sufficient, unless they are accompanied by policies that inform people about the dangers of such a journey and, above all, that promote development in their countries of origin."

He would also advocate forcing an AMerican family with a 2BR in Queens to leave their home so an Ecuadorian family of 5 living in a 1BR could live better.

You have to understand, the Church is losing members. Whites don't make enough babies, or become liberals, and Hispanics are going to these Bodega Churches where they yell and scream, "God is big" or speak in tongues.

Judaism is different because your DNA determines your religion. They don't have to make crazy statements to get people to reproduce or come to synagogue.

There are problems as well among Jews. The Synagogue is no longer the central hub of Jewish life. Many are going under because people stay until he Bar or Bat Mitzvah of their youngest child then drop out. Intermarriage does not help either

I'm not a fan of this new Pope.

He's trying to purge AMericans from the pews. But he understand his nationality is the only reason he got the job. He's an affirmative action Pope, meant to offset Hispanic migration from the Church, but white enough to maintain the Euro-centricity of the title.

Does Judaism have controversy within, or is it just you vs. The World?

Yes, I noticed that.

There was an abandoned synagogue in Richmond Hill that I passed many times and one day it was just demolished.

The one I went to for a Bar-Mitzvah on Myrtle Ave @ Woodhaven Blvd is barely hanging on.

I think for the most part, Jews are more likely to be single or not have big families and that's why you've lost some congregations. But they're not leaving for other branches, like Catholics becoming Jehovah's Witness or Pentecostal.

Anti-semites think, "The Jews stick together" but in reality, Jews as a whole are very likely to intermarry.

You do have some who become more or less Orthodox but usually there is some trigger. For example, my father grew up Orthdox but then swore off Judaism for a time after a very insensitive comment by his Rabbi. My father lost his father suddenly when my father was 18 walking home from Rosh Hashanah services. All the Rabbi could say to my father was "it is going to be difficult to have a minyan now." Once he met my mother and the Reform Rabbi she grew up with then did he get more involved in Judaism

I support the Church because it cultivates healthy families. I will attend mass in NYC when I visit again. Found a very interesting church in Astoria.

Have you ever been to Arthur Avenue? It is the "Little Italy" of the Bronx and runs from Crotona up to Fordham University where the mystical Amanda, who sadly is still on the run, went to school and became a Progressive idealogue. Amanda is awesome.
