You do have some who become more or less Orthodox but usually there is some trigger. For example, my father grew up Orthdox but then swore off Judaism for a time after a very insensitive comment by his Rabbi. My father lost his father suddenly when my father was 18 walking home from Rosh Hashanah services. All the Rabbi could say to my father was "it is going to be difficult to have a minyan now." Once he met my mother and the Reform Rabbi she grew up with then did he get more involved in Judaism |
