For exampleBMW will leave South Carolina because the work force is under-educated and untrainable - or- Conscription is mentioned in the constitution - or Kermit Gosnell did nothing wrong - or George Zimmerman will be convicted. If there was no EITC, employers would have to pay a living wage istead of pawning off a tax reund as a bonus. Which BTW, never came close in overall value (wages, actual cost of benefits &EITC) to what that bank was paying me to work effectively 30 hours a week over a year (quarterly deadlines meant a lot of overtime in a compressed period 4 times a year) with no "benefits". |

That is irrelevant to the point I was making, or the comment of yours to which I was responding. You raised a theological/philosophical point re: the literal accuracy of the Hebrew Bible and the view on such matter in Orthodox Judaism. I merely pointed out that your argument, while the position of the majority of Orthodox philosophers, is by no means universal. As to the founders of the modern State of Israel - they quite spanned the spectrum, from atheistic socialists to fervently Orthodox Religious Zionists. subfan |

I agree it's half-assed. It also has been the number one reason why low end wages are so depressed. Employers know that working poor can get money elsewhere. Walmart telling their employees where to get government assistance is no myth. They rely on those programs to subsidize their employees instead of paying a living wage. S the taxpayers end up effectively subsidizing the billionaire owners of these companies while employees scrounge. |

Eh, "Iron Dome Ineffective" would have yielded a wealth of information faster than I could provide it. But the Bulletin of Atomic Sciences provided the initial information that the system is not a particularly effective anti-missile system. Foreign Policy In Focus fleshes out some of the details and highlights some of the other issues. Another expert on weapons systems at MIT concludes that the system is ineffective in the MIT Technology Review.Essentially the problem is the same as was encountered by the Patriot PAC-2 system in 1991. The PAC-2 attacked the target with the largest radar return, and frequently struck the spent SCUD rocket stage rather than the smaller, already detached warhead. In the same way the Iron Dome interceptor missile is fused such that a shaped charge launches in a cone around the interceptor, striking the rocket microseconds after the fuse detects its target. But in those few microseconds the target rocket moves its warhead past the cone into which the shaped charge detonates and the interceptor's warhead is wasted on the spent solid rocket stage of the rocket. The experts generally agree that Israel's casualties, or lack thereof, are attributable to their extensive civil defense force and large number of air raid shelters. They've already rendered Hamas' rockets useless, so there's no need to physically destroy those weapons on the ground. |

You never heard of rabbis such as Abraham Isaac Kook, contemporary of Herzl, or Zvi Hirsch Kalischer, who predated Herzl, and without whose impetus "political Zionism" wouldn't even have survived? Therefore, religious Zionism came before the secular version. Thought you'd have known that? |
