And, in perhaps the penultimate of irony, the whole reason that is is because of HBD, as "core" NW Europeans, by far the dominant group of Americans, have a heavy load of reciprocal altruism genes and view everyone as their brethren and worthy of their sympathy*. To think that there are people intrinsically below them—nay, not exactly like them and deserving of receiving favors is an anathema.This is why I'm not horribly worried about the ill social effects of belief in HBD getting out of control. Likely our trustly lefty NW Euro groups, even if they embraced HBD, would see it as an opportunity to help out and guide the "genetically unfortunate among us." *At least in comparison to the rest of the world. Clearly many individuals of NW Europeans descent are quite capable of bigotry, ethnic nationalism and racism. But of all groups in the world, they are the least apt for that, especially the most northern and western ones (save the Celts), which one can easily see by visiting places in the world outside of areas inhabited by NW Europeans and observing the attitude towards race and racial differences. |
