Actually, "Live and let live, so long as I approve" accurateky describes the conservative world-view.

Marriage only for those "socially-acceptable" people of whom WE approve.

Tax breaks only for the rich, of whom WE approve.

Poor? No job? Your own fault. Starve and die, we do NOT approve of you.

That's the conservative way.
