Someone once proposed an idea to me that people should have to pass some financial means test before they should be allowed to have babies. In theory, I like the idea.The problem, as I see it, is that the people who can least afford to have kids -generally- end up having kids at the youngest ages and also end up having the most kids. The people who can afford to have kids (unless they are members of the religious right or The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) tend to have the least amount of kids. Professional athletes and movie stars are a little different, as they end up having lots of kids with (generally) multiple women. |
