Argentina has few black people and fewer people overall and they are just as good in soccer as Brazil. The two best soccer players in the world are white.Soccer seems to be a sport where there are no particular racial advantages. One well-documented racial difference relevant to athletic performance is that blacks of West African descent, who account for most blacks in the Western Hemisphere, have proportionately more fast-twitch muscle fibers than people from other areas. That often translates into better explosive power, which is an advantage in many sports. It may, in part, account for black dominance of the NFL and NBA. It is less directly relevant to soccer, however, and as a result soccer is truly a world sport in terms of the backgrounds of top players. My LIRR/NYCT blog |
