Posted by Mitch45 on Tue Nov 18 16:11:35 2025 E-Bikes are proliferating like rabbits on Viagra. It seems that every kid, delivery person and Brooklyn Heights hipster doofus has one. You see them whizzing along the streets and sometimes the sidewalks.Maybe I am becoming an old fart but I feel that these things are too dangerous to be operated by just anyone. An E-Bike is a motor vehicle by any definition. Some of the larger ones are able to reach 30-40 miles per hour. A pedestrian hit by an E-Bike at even 20 miles per hour can sustain serious injuries. I think these things should be registered and insured, like every other motor vehicle. People who are injured by E-Bike operators should have the ability to apply for No-Fault and to bring bodily injury lawsuits against the insurers for these vehicles. |
