I agree with the first part, disagree with the second. Underscoring the latter part is the ethnocentrism that the age of the European Renaissance was necessarily better than what the Native Americans had previously. That is like those who claim that the slave trade actually helped Africans because they had a better life as slaves in the western world than what they had in Africa.
