I stand corrected, though it makes clear the team was disbanded and its members reassigned, making it possible to reconstitute in the case of an actual pandemic. Trump did create the Coronavirus Task Force (which CNN's only complaint about was that it was too white, indicating they had no other negative characteristics such as lack of pertinent knowledge or experience to attack it on) by January 30th.My thought is: do we need a standing pandemic response team, or is simply keeping track of those capable of the job and tapping them when necessary sufficient? Do we have a standing volcano or earthquake response team, or do we gather experts when a problem arises? Both of those are more common than a pandemic, which last occurred in the 1950s and optimism bias has set in for longer on that topic than the others. |
