Re: COVID-19 updates

They're getting traction because moderates/centrists aren't making progress on key issues, such as income inequality and the environment. Those areas are either staying still or getting worse over time. If the moderates/centrists won't do squat, people are going to look to the extremists for a different way of getting it done.

Moderates/centrists correctly determined that those things aren't actually key issues that need sweeping reform. Income inequality is meaningless in two regards:
1 - the increased minimum wage (yay lefist policies!) combined with the worker supply constraint caused by reduced immigration (yay right-wing policies!) have combined their powers to result in the lowest wage earners getting substantially more benefit from the current economy than the higher ones. The gap is slowly narrowing without direct intervention. No politician is talking about this because both sides' policies are combining to make it happen.
2 - The top 1% pay 39% of the taxes while only receiving 20% of the income [CNBC], best not to piss them off.

The only thing that needed to be done w/r/t the environment is to not roll back existing regulations, and make minor tweaks to improve things over time... Trump has decided to fail at this.
Climate alarmists like Greta Thumberg are demanding we shut off all carbon emissions right now, which will kill millions of people, hand the economy over to China, India, and Russia (who sign climate accords fully intending to disregard them), and only reduce global climate emissions by 8%.

So regarding climate, progressives are being ignored because they're idiots.
