Some popular religions also have a directive to go forth and multiply.2. The 1st amendment combined with the fact that minors aren't allowed to make decisions on their own. If the religion truly believes that vaccines will damn the person's soul to hell, forcing it onto someone violates freedom of religion. Now, I also understand herd immunity, and on a personal level I think vaccinations are good and important, but government force is too authoritarian for me to stomach. It opens the door to government force on putting other things into your body (subcutaneous implants for tracking?). It's kinda my stance on abortion. I personally think it's morally abhorrent in many cases (recently I learned there's people with a "breeding fetish" who will intentionally get pregnant, play along with the pregnancy stage even going so far as to learn the sex of the child, then abort at the latest it's legally allowed). But, I don't trust the government to get my list of exceptions right, and there's something to be said about the government forcing a person to be the host of another being, so I have to side with some level of pro-choice. |
