Of course it does. At which point I would have had 8 years of increased income. In your mind is 8 years of the current rates better than 8 years of discounted rates?

The next administration is in the awkward position of having to either let the cuts expire or extend them. If it's republican, extension is a given. If it's democrat, they become the guys who raised taxes on the middle class, and the republicans will get their seats back (or maybe Libertarians).

Win-win for the long game.
