Judaism isn't defined by strict allegiance to arbitrary traditions. That's just a mental glitch— we're all hardwired to assume that the way our parents did things when we were kids is The Way Things Are Done and continue to do them lifelong.Being Jewish is just who/what you are, and that won't change simply because you realise that bacon cheeseburgers are delicious. Why assume that you can say God doesn't exist and still be Jewish but you spontaneously lose your cultural background the minute you point out that a few rituals are annoying and silly? |
