Michele Bachmann: Gays Pushing Laws Allowing Adults 'To Freely Prey On Little Children Sexually'

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) accused the LGBT community of advocating for the legalization of child rape during an interview on conservative radio show “Faith & Liberty” Wednesday.

“They want to abolish age of consent laws, which means children would…we would do away with statutory rape laws so that adults will be able to freely prey on little children sexually,” Bachmann claimed. “That’s the deviance that we’re seeing embraced in our culture today.”

The former Republican presidential hopeful also condemned the Supreme Court’s 2013 decision to strike down a federal ban on same-sex marriage as a “denial of equal protection for all Americans.”

“This is a revolution that we are encountering now. For all of the thousands of years of recorded human history, about 5,000 years, there is no instance of any culture, nation or tribe ever having as the established standard for marriage anything other than between man and woman,” the tea party conservative argued. “It may have been multiple women and a man, it may have been something like that, but it was always between men and women.”

After declaring gay marriage a “radical” experiment that flies in the face of God, Bachmann insisted that anti-gay conservatives are only seeking to “spread goodness and joy and wholeness and healing … through a loving God with a message that frees people.”

In March, Bachmann also claimed that gay people were bullying Americans by opposing discriminatory legislation in Arizona that would have allowed businesses to refuse service to same-sex couples on religious grounds.

Earlier this week, Bachmann hinted at another presidential run, criticizing the media for excluding her from 2016 speculation.

“The only thing that the media has speculated on is that it’s going to be various men that are running,” Bachmann told RealClearPolitics in an interview Tuesday. “They haven’t speculated, for instance, that I’m going to run. What if I decide to run? And there’s a chance I could run.”
