Well if it is only four vehicles an hour, it couldn't have been much of a problem.The problem addressed by the island is the eastbound left (334 vehicles in the p.m. peak hour). Those vehicles were cutting across the barely used southbound left turn lane and hitting pedestrians or other vehicles. Before that dumb divider, it was possible to go around them and not have to miss a traffic signal. And have a huge risk of having a head on collision in the intersection because you would end up on the wrong side of the road once you get through that traffic signal. |
