But if the subject of your picture is within the effective range of your flash, the flash will light up your subject, allowing a faster shutter speed to be used, and resulting in what the people prone to using this method would consider a decent shot. If the subject is out of flash range, like you said, the photo will be garbage. I think typical flash range for point and shoots is like 6 to 15 feet, but I'd have to check. |

It's a member of the Bush science team:Bushcronium has one neutron, 12 assistant neutrons, 75 deputy neutrons, and 224 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 311. These 311 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons. The symbol for Bushcronium is "W". Bushcronium's mass actually increases over time, since each reorganization causes more morons to become neutrons, forming isodopes. This characteristic of moron-promotion leads some scientists to believe that Bushcronium is formed whenever morons reach a certain quantity in concentration. This hypothetical quantity is referred to as "critical morass." When catalyzed with money, Bushcronium activates Foxnewsium, an element that radiates orders of magnitude more energy, albeit as incoherent noise, since it has half as many peons but twice as many morons. |

The problem that I have with that is the zero tolerance policies that the city has adopted towards its citizens. Meter maids and cops issue tickets over every minor offense. I have decided that sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander. I now have zero tolerance for indiscretions on the part of anyone in authority. I may not complain to their face but I sure as hell file complaints over each and every mistake I catch on the part of "the authorities". Sauce for the goose IS sauce for the gander!!!! |

I just completed writing a letter to the newspaper on this "zero tolerance" policy. In fact I will call it a "minus 1 tolerance" policy. Last summer I saw a meter maid to start to write a ticket while someone was still slowing down at a bus stop. She was yelling for the driver to stop her car so she could complete the summons. The problem with this is that at the time she started writing the summons no law had yet been broken, since it is perfectly legal to stop at a bus stop to discharge passengers. The meter maid had no way of knowing the driver's intentions when she started to write the summons. |

The Nazi war criminals were also doing what they were instructed to do. It is wrong to post a sign that is only enforced when someone gives them good reason to. It allows for the potential of abuse and racial profiling. It reminds me of the sign posted at NYC playgrounds that prohibit you from entering unless you have a child with you. It allows the police the authority to arrest anyone they don't like the looks of because they think he or she might be a predator even if the person has done absolutely nothing wrong. As long as I pay taxes for these parks, I should be allowed to use them. Why shouldn't a senior citizen be allowed to sit in a park and admire the children playing and having fun? Should they only be allowed to look at old people? If someone does something wrong, only then should they be arrested. At my park, you have to pass one of these signs (and hence break the law) just to get to the handball fields and basketball courts. You may ask why should this sign matter if no one reads it and everyone ignores it anyway? I first found out about this law when I read a story how a police officer went over to a man sitting in the park and told him he had to leave. He asked why and was promptly arrested without explanation. When in court they told him about the law. This doesn't sound like the US. Child predators are a big problem but this is not the way to handle it. If the police believed he was dangerous, they should have told him what they thought he was doing. If he really was a predator, he would have got scared and left anyway (to do it elsewhere) or become abusive and the police would have had reason to arrest him anyway without this law. I don't see what it accomplishes. (Sorry to get off topic.) |

People are effectively permitted, in practice, to use the platforms to travel north-south in the terminal. The posted signs are few in number and AFAIK are not at the majority of the entrances to the platform area. There are also no signs that I know of that say you must only use the north end access corridors for north-south travel. As such, one can easily argue, as I just did, that people are permitted to be on the platforms. And since they are permitted to be there, and since there is no restriction on photography in areas people are allowed to be in, Nilet was doing nothing wrong, and was not trespassing. |
