It is a genre of photography in the style pioneered by Henri Cartier-Bresson It can be very interesting and tells a story if done correctly. Posed photos, like the ones I take, lose the effect of that spontaneity of simply capturing people going about their daily lives - or in this case being surprised by a rather unusual train.As for "invasion of privacy" - there is no expectation of privacy in a public space. If he were going into the ladies room to take those pictures then THAT would be an invasion of privacy. |

LOL - many years ago we had dinner at the Morocco pavilion at Disney World, which had a belly dance act at the time. Photography was permitted (I have a few pics) but one of the guys got up and followed the girl around the dance floor taking pics paparazzi style from every angle. When he sat back down, his wife/girlfriend was fuming - she did not speak to him for the rest of the evening.I've taken some random photos of people in the subway, although it is not my preferred style:     Sometimes random people pose for me:    Or even take pictures OF my model:  Or pose with my model:  I gave the girl in the last photo my contact info - she emailed me and I sent her the high resolution version of the pic suitable for printing. |

I loved the first few shots of the families looking at the train in awe. I also liked the shot of what I call "the professor" with the hat and the white beard.I remember in St. Paul, two ladies randomly came up to me and asked me to take a goofy picture of them (it was Friday afternoon - maybe that had something to do with it). I found it funny, random, cool, and interesting, and was surprised when they said thanks and continued on their business. *shrug* |

I find it funny when people ask me to take their picture but do not even wait for me to give them a business card so they can get a copy...One time when I was on a photo shoot at Coney Island I waited for this family to pass by - instead they started posing behind my model and signaled for me to take the pic - so I did  The model did not even realize that this happened till I showed her the picture after the shoot. |

And I wonder too if his wife has any feelings about what seems to be a very disturbing obsession?? Only one time had young women been in my pics, and they were at least 18 - 20 years old, and again since this site is about trains, I keep it to trains, as do many others here!! And not to mention these are really not good at all!! Instead of alter-egoed, idiotic incarnations of handles, he should have been working on his photography!! 2 thumbs DOWN!! |

If I am off duty, and say out with my family, I am not sure I would be so okay with it. |

But my slacks are caused by being a family man, which is understandable, and working on getting our new home here.I get out when I get out, mostly I take my camera everywhere I go because the "women in my life" love to do their girl things (aka, The Malls!!!), I do my "foamer" things (snappin' away alongside the rails!!) :-D Thought about going out and getting some in today, but the chances of rain, and the crappy light and sky conditions kinda turned me off!! Great work on the LIRR shots, Fred!! I need to branch off from the Main Line and go where things are a little simpler. Hard to concentrate on multiple trains!! :-D |

I even angle shots where as much as possible I keep operating personnel out of my photos, unless they seem not to mind, which rarely happens.And the best part of this amusement park, little ol' me can have fun in it for FREE!! :-D |

Lately, and as Doctor B has posted here a short time earlier about NYCR tours, I been interested in Fresh Pond, CSX/CP/P&W/NYAR operations on the Bay Ridge and NYCR, and are very interested in getting shots from INSIDE Fresh Pond Yard, especially a nice overhead view of the yard from "Bridge 35". Gonna see if some info I got from some "foamer" co-workers can allow me to get an officially authorized visit to Fresh Pond from NYAR. I will see what happens with that, and of course if it can be done, it shall be posted here, of course!! Wish me luck on that!! Maybe I can have the success of several others I have seen about on the internet lately. |

Definitely Queens!! Taxes too damned high in Nassau, though the prices are right!! Queens Village, Addesleigh Park (if I spelled that right, aka St. Albans) and Bellerose are my target areas. I wanna still be able to have reasonable commutes to and from work and a somewhat broad option of crew bases to work out of if one gets a little dry as far a good runs I can hold. |

Well, I am not sure if I will keep driving or use the LIRR (if I am working out of GCT). The LIRR seems to be a reasonable way to go, especially since I hear there has been an easement on ball-busting!! I could always drive to Long Island City (Vernon/Jackson) like my other coworkers sometimes do, but I heard there has been quite a bit of street regulation rezoning there, and parking on-street has dried up dramatically for ANYONE who does not have an NYPD parking placard. |
