New York is expecting SOME snow, but nothing like Philly and other areas further south will be getting.

New York is looking at 1-4" from this storm. DC is looking at 2-3 feet for example.

I'm sure NYCTA is considering Plan 4 starting Friday night.
It all depands how much snow falls.
Transit systems south of NY definately are.

I don't think they'll go THAT extreme:

More than likely, maybe Plan 1 at worst since only 1-4" of snow is expected. Anything worse would be because of wind, not snow in NYC.

On the other hand, Philly is expecting 8-14" (actually down from earlier), while points south are expecting more.

It is not incompetence.

It is a situation where equipment and empty tracks are not in the same place, it is a situation where crews are not where they are needed. After all, if you lay-up a train on 4th Avenue, then you are not at 95th Street to take out the next interval.

A train is delayed 5 minutes, and there is no equipment for the next train.

The Snow Hits the Fan. Big deal. Deal with it.

I agree they should have called a Plan 2 modified if anything i guess better safe than sorry on thier part.

Heh 2 inches of snow on the ground in the Bronx and they got snowbrids all over the place.

Now Coney Island and Southern Crooklyn may get more though.

Which makes sense because the snow totals have increased considerably from where they were when I said Plan 1.

Also, it may not be entirely because of snow. There is also going to be a ton of WIND howling on Saturday and Sunday (the Jersey Shore, which is going to pounded worse than we are has had blizzard warnings in effect since Thursday night).

I don't think its just the snow:

We also have 30-50 MPH WINDS in this forecast, and that may have played into this decision for a plan 4.

Plus, the snow totals have gone up considerably from what was forecast (Philly was expecting 8-14", now its 14-20").
