Then then send me to pick up a Delta job at Bedford Pk. I get there the T/D giving it to me on why it took 1 1/2 to get from 207.I had to currect them saying I'm coming from Euclid now not 207. |

It is, because everyone jams onto the first train that comes (as if there will never be another one). So if the 2 is the first train to come in a while, not only do those of us who need that 2 to get to the central Bronx get on, but so do the West Siders who could take a less crowded train home. Not sure you'll see R142s on the extended 1. There will probably be R62s on the 1. |

I still think it would be a good idea to re-open the loop station for east side service while the 1 is forced to New Lots so for those who don't wish to walk coming off/going to the ferry, they would have that option. It also would show if having the loop open as a terminal for the 5/6 (and a revived BG-SF shuttle when the tracks between BB and BG are too crowded and the 5 is running to Brooklyn) is something that should become permanent. If nothing else, doing so, and especially rebuilding entrances to the short platform at BG would at least provide for alternate service if that became necessary. |

They got rid of the inner loop plat years ago and reccently the whole station, and there were reasons for that. I am starting to agree with the poster who posted the dead horse, because you are beating it beyond death. |

Posted by Wallyhorse on Sat Dec 5 17:06:26 2009, in response to Re: Re-opening old SF Terminal, posted by arnine on Thu Dec 3 18:07:22 2009. Maybe I'm "beating" it because I think it's a very valid argument.Even before the new SF station opened, as I remember reading, SF Ferry riders wanted the old SF loop station kept open with a new connection to the Lexington Avenue Line. Doing it as I would (BG-SF Shuttle on weekdays when the 5 is running to Brooklyn, 6 during overnights and 5 all other times) would accomplish that and allow those on the east side to be able to get to SF without having to walk from BG, which is especially useful in bad weather like we have today. |

Absolutely:If they have to send the 1 to a terminal other than South Ferry, New Lots makes the most sense since that was the pattern after 9/11. The alternative would be to have the 1, 2 and 3 all scrape the wall to 72nd or Times Square, with the 1 then running express to 14th and terminating there OR having trains cross the tracks at 96th like they used to, with the 2/3 running local from 96th-Chambers and the 1 express from 96th-14th. |

"...with the 2/3 running local from 96th-Chambers and the 1 express from 96th-14th."That was the original post-9/11 plan. But after all the delays it caused with 2/3 trains switching from the express to the local tracks and vice versa for 1 trains, that plan got scrapped in favor of 1/2 local service to Brooklyn and 3 express service to 14th Street. And rightfully so. |

I may be out of there since 1971, but I can sure put two and two together when it comes to ... the list. I ended up in the south because STL's kids pretty much caused everyone in B to move out east ... there's still a few here whose dads chose the east because of STL. Amusingly, it's STILL like that.Big picks with changes send people where they don't belong. Just because it appears to me that the morons took wing from A division doesn't mean they didn't leave a mess behind for someone else to clean up. Wouldn't be the FIRST time. :) |

But if they have to send some 1s to Flatbush, doesn't that show New Lots doesn't need all 1s ending there? That's why I think trimming the 2 back and leaving the 3 alone would be best for the 1. Plus the 2 is pretty long in the Bronx as is.I don't see why the 3 [from 148th to 14th as an express] makes sense over an already long 2 line [from 241st to Flatbush] and to run all local. I really hope they don't cut the 5 back to BG. Service to/from 7th Av is spotty, the 5 has been very helpful taking off pressure from the 2. |
