I just rode the newest R-160. It was car 9632 and it is on the E-train. I also saw the R-32 on the B as the E stopped at 7th Avenue.

I tried to find the R32 (B) train today, but a t/o told me that it had laid up earlier.

How often does it run during the midday? How often does it run at all?

I have a written response about window scratchitti from 2006. it says that beginning in 2007 the MTA will start replacing windows and installing vandal resistant screens on a line by line basis. Once the B became R-68 R-68 A in February 2009, it also became scratchitti-free as far as the glass goes. IF they are going to run that R-32 on the B, they need to replace the glass and install the screens.

It depends...some days it runs during middays, and some days, it doesn't. My friends and I got real lucky yesterday; we caught it at 11:03 in the morning approaching Rockefeller Center heading to Brooklyn right after the Arnine trip, and we didn't even have to wait for it!

They (CI yard) put new windows and even new floors on one of the last R40 Slant cars to run out of that yard. I remeber because it was when the Slants on the (B) was becoming a rare sight and whenever I seen one on layover in BB I would always ride it (I normally take the (Q) since I live at an local stop..). Your statement doesn't hold water. First and foremost, the TA CANNOT scrap that 32 that is sttting a CIY. Secondly, that train is there to provide extra trains due to the concuring advisory on the Brighton line. Thirdly, Coney Island Yard doesn't want to deal with so many 160's. Lastly, the TA isn't going to be retiring any additional R32's for a while.

It is that unfortunate thinking and low expectations that has keept our system dirty, and gritty for decades. No one said it was possible for graffiti-free trains, then a plan was formulated and the result, graffiti-free trains since 1989, then no one said it would be possible to have clean windows, a plan was formulated and today the only windows still destroyed exist on the r-32 r-42 and the r-46 that has not had the SMS.
Bottom line, anything can be maintained. IF they paid attention to track walls of open cuts and along the entire system and they paid attention to the interors of the r-62 & r-68 tin cans, they too cluld be cleaned up and MAINTAINED. Vandals quickly realize that if the vandalism is removed, they do not get their fame and they stop.

You want to save taxpayer money, eliminate eating, drinking on trains and eliminate student passes. Finally have students attend schools in their own communities. ANother idea is to install cameras on every NTT.

They aren't going to bother if they know their 'work' will be reefed in a matter of days. That defeats the point of them 'bombing' a train. They only do it to get their tags out in the open.

What the hell are you talking about, that R32 is not going anywhere because it's needed for a long-term G.O. And explain to me why didn't they just send in an R160 in the first place instead of an R32. If they didn't send one back in September when this G.O. went into effect, it's highly unlikely they'll do so now, or anytime soon for the matter.

I agree that the system needs a cleaning, but honestlty your getting nothing I repeat nothing by bitching about it all the time on here, I mean hell you even hijack threads with this. You want something done right? Then do something I and a couple of others in the past gave you ideas on how to do it. So put up and do it or shut up. Heonestly, I agree with most of what you said, but enough is enough. Also, posting this all the time does nothing it is a slim chance that any MTA official will read your rants, and if they do they will se your the only one spouting this.

No, some students either don't have a close enough school in their community or the school they have sucks. I much rather have them go to school at no charge than them have no $ to go to school so they steal, rob and get into trouble, oh and oh yeah since they would have a lot of time to kill, they will do vandalism the same shit that you hate.

Do us all a favor and give this a rest fro a while we all know how gritty the subway can be no need to shove it down our throats all the time. Since it upsets you so much stay in your car.

You are turing into a one trick pony. Virtually every post you make is the same or similar complaint.

Vandalism has been going on since the advent of the subway: vandlaized seats which has ultimately given way to fiberglass seats.

As far as keeping kids in schools in their own communities: talk to King Bloomburg.

Why doesn't CIYD want to deal with so many R160's?

Lastly, the R42's are almost gone, if not gone already. After that, the R32's start getting retired and reefed with additional R46's getting transfered to 207/Pitkin. By the end of next year: NO MORE R32's!

Sorry to bust your bubble, but your precious oddball R32 assigned to CIYD would have to be replaced by an R160. Naturally that would mean an additional R160 on the A, with a R68/68A to the B.

They should have assigned an additional R160 to CIYD in the first place. CIYD doesn't even have spare parts to maintain certain functions of the R32 and have to import parts from another yard for them when needed.

Exactly. Glad I am not the only one who thinks that. I gave him advice on ways to get something done as did others. But, he stated he puts this up all the time here because he thinks an MTA higher up is gonna read it and do something, which IMHO is BS because they are gonna just see it is him, and with his constant way of interjecting/hijacking it into good threads is gonna detract from his actual message. Why have students attend schools in the own nabs..if the schools are top notch..?

If there is a BETTER SCHOOL out there for YOU CHILD TO ATTEND..if your child is gifted..why shackle them with sub par schooling when they can go somewhere on their level?

I find you additude severely lacking..very selfish..

Back on topic...Im sorry to see the 32's go bye bye..but time marches on.

Too Bad, ever hear of neighborhood schools? Didn't we used to send children to neighborhood schools? Isn't that what is done in suburbia?
Isn't that why so many young people move to suburbia?

If you want to talk abotu being selfish, why not look at Obama. There was a voucher system put in place in DC to give residents of DC a chance to send their children to a private school. Ironically Obama's children attend this school. Yet, guess who ended the program? Obama himself.

If the R32 train assigned to CIYD is retired before the 4 car R160As arrive, then no, the R42 will be the last 60 foot SMEE in the B division.

Still, the part about kids going out of control on the trains is partially true. It's a nightmare everytime around 3-4pm when the kids are let loose. They should not be allowed to be in such large groups.
