Also, you'd put a major squeeze on all of the platform and mezzanine-level vendors who make money on sodas and snacks. Its a good idea but unworkable. The best you can hope for is that people will throw away their litter properly. |

If eating and drinking on the subway were made illegal and people were fined, most people would stop doing it most of the time. Most people would also be irritated by the new requirement. If anything they should make a rule that drinks must be covered and that no hot foods should be consumed. |

All liquid containers must be covered.The problem in the NY Subway is that food and drink is sold inside the stations. People won't buy it if they can't consume it. I only buy soda or water at those vendors if I need something to drink at the moment and can consume it immediately. I would never buy something there with the intention of bringing it home - if that is the case I would just go to one of the many news-stands or delis after getting off the train - they are cheaper! So if the MTA banned eating and drinking those vendors may no longer have the business that makes it worthwhile to bid for those "shops". |

That's how you prevent posting lies, and prevent yourself from looking really stupid. |
