Most of the el east of 121st St. is new and for most of 1985 and 1986 was missing. Trains never ran east of 121st St until 1987, when the ramp and crossover was opened for use. |

From a previous message, "The (4),(E),(F),(JFK) at that time had CAP subway cars" and "Times Square Shuttle had CAP R17's"I do try to follow along in the discussions, but sometimes the abbreviations get to me. What are CAP subway cars? One day, I will figure out what is a SMEE? Also, the N-train to Whitehall Street took over the route of the old EE train, and depending upon the time of day, and the direction, the N-train was either local or express in Manhattan. I guess as an effort to recreate the experience of the usual Brooklyn N-train riders, or the experience of the riders that used to use the EE-train. Just me. Mike |
