Nope. It it my opinion that the c/r is needed. I have my opinion, and that is all. Wheteher I feel the c/r should not go, has absolutely no effect on whether the MTA does it or not. I seriously doubt at some meeting an MTA executive is going to say this: "I am for the idea, but since arnine doesn't like the idea let's not approve it" with the rest of the executives following. If that actually happened I'd be flattered, but am VERY VERY DOUBTFUL that would happen.

Now your 2 points, they need to be fixed and I agree those are issues. But, you know what? I have seen the emergency call button on the R160 fail. Yes, the agents should not sleep. That is a no no, and cannot tell you often I get off the train at my station at 3am to find the agent sleeping. That should be fixed.

I think you meant fantasy land, but no I live neither in fancy or fantasy land. I know there is not unlimited money. I also know that people should be held accountable for the money. But, you pick and choose.

Whatever. Believe what you will. My opinion is not irrational. I am not the only one who thinks it is wrong. When NYCT first started the media did quite a bit of opinion polls and guess what? Many agree with me. In addition, read the rider blogs on OPTO on the Straphanger's Campaign website, and read the opinions there it shows why OPTO shouldn't be done, plus I believe even the campiagn is against it for many of the same reasons I am. Now, are all these opinions irrational? NO! & NEITHER IS MINE! You are entitled to your opinion, so if it is your opinion that my & coutless others opinion are irrational, fine but it ain't a fact like you are implying.

Funny I find that you are saying that many folks including a whole organization is irrational. Read Gothamist they also are against it. Well, sorry I am not irrational at all.

OPTO was prevented on the L because it was in violation of the contract between the MTA and TWU.

The MTA is not against full length OPTO. Any arguments against it are, as full length OPTO has been proven to work just as well as TPTO.

Ok I understand that. But, my main point to Hank is that I am not irrational nor is my opinion (which is just that an opinion) as well as the opinions of many SC boggers, an organization and the media. But, again it is what it is, the MTA will do what they feel they need to do and will not change their minds because of my opinion or many others opinions as well.

Truth be told when they ran full length OPTO on the L for the short period passengers had no problems. It is just the special interests that feed fear stories into people heads.
The last I looked Airtrain jfk had no door operator and no one cares and it uses OLDER trains than the L

Path has no station agent yet no one is scared away even in manhattan.

You can not go on public opinion polls when the question asked is twisted. Straphangers campaign are union patsys. The head guy testified before the arbitrator that passengers had no problem diverting needed capitol money from the stimulus plan to pay for raises while the capitol budget has a huge shorfall

"Sraphanger's Campaign are not union patsys (sorry but you shouldn't label anyone it ain't cool) as in the past they have sided against unions on issues."

The straphangers campaign is part of NYPIRG which is a left leaning advocacy group that is largely funded by ripping off CUNY students(they take part of the student activity fees) and contributions from labor.

99.99999% of the time Straphangers have sided on key union issues. the biggest issue is they want more money from albany yet they don't fight to save money from easy changes that can be made in operations. They use their effort to sway pubic opinion against any real changes that save the mta money and in many cases improve rider experience

METROCARD is a perfect example. The strapies were against it saying it would lead to more crime as it looked like a credit card and people would take out their wallets, money would be lost on the card because the is NO PHYSICAL TOKEN than riders could hold an feel. They would go to news outlet and state over an over the dangers of metrocard. Thier prediction turned out to be false but they have managed to keep some station agents bleeding the mta dry.

there real motive was that they knew that it would lead to massive reductions and eventual closing of all token booths and the twu which contributes to NYPIRG. They do it covertly.
The average number of rides on metrocard per purchase is probably about 15-20 vs people would but 1-2 tokens at at time prior to metrocard.

I learned NYPIRG's dirty tricks when I volunteered to fight against the incinerator at Brooklyn Navy Yard in High School. They hid behind the vail of protecting the environment but the real issue is that jobs were being lost at the landfills if the incinerator opened. One of the leaders even told me that they need money to further there cause. Yeh pay for the hippy lawyers who sit around at NYPIRG all day doing little to nothing for the public good.. Our buddy Gene from straphangers camapign is a STAFF LAWYER.

do you EVER ride in an automatic elevator (Programmed by humans)
use an escalator (Built by humans)
let the computer send the url to subchat so you canread these posts (typed in by humans)
ride the AirTrain @ JFK (Built + Programmed by humans)
allow the cashier to make change based on what the register calculates (Even cash registers are programmed by humans)

Without humans, Computer chips would not be made.
