If personal safety is your concern the current way NYCT operates is far worse than removing an unneeded conductor

1) 75ft cars with locked doors and no intercoms
2)Unmonitored platforms some two flight of stairs away from a person in a sound proof booth(sometimes sleeping) who can do little more then calling 911

You live in fancy land where there is unlimited money and no accountability to best practices
