Its usually "thinking" like that gets Off the Street T/O's failing the Signals Quiz...With ONE wrong answer. If you dont know the "proper RTO" definition of a green atuomatic signal then as far as Schoolcar is concerned you shouldnt be up front... |

LOL- forgot about "The Fat Controller" as he's called in British prints of the Railway Series- which gave birth to Thomas The Tank Engine. The Controller's real name is Sir Topham Hatt, which is what he's called in American versions of the books and TV series. Obviously the use of the word "fat" is not politically correct. |

Some people here are too obsessive over something that would be around for decades vs. something that is being phased out. Its pathetic that people aren't appreciating the older equipment when there still in service. I bet more people appreciated the Redbirds after their retirement than back when there were in active revenue service.I hope I don't have to explain myself over and over. |

There were 10 R-17s with factory installed A/C but it didn't work very well and the A/C units were subsequently replaced with fans. Also the H & M class K cars some of which were single units also had A/C which did work well. Were these the units that had the kind of high rfw and the speckled green interior paint scheme? I seem to remember them from when I was a kid on the New Lots Line. |

"Here comes a 'hot one'" (with a wisp of smoke pouring out from the bottom) That's what I should have said. 5th Ave on the IND was heavily smoked during the rush 45 years ago. |

What could help is shutting off the HVAC and lights when the train is laid up for the night, daytime, etc. What else can you expect when the A/Cs run constantly when in and out of service? |

Problem is I as a t/o will shut them off but once I'm gone the car cleaners, advertising sign man, the RCI's to pre-inspect or make minor repairs to the train get on and do their thing and when they're all gone the lights and a/c are left on. |
