Whatever what was "north" or "south" as far as directions on the line,
The ramp to the Brooklyn Bridge was on the physical south end of the Chambers Street Station.

If you're talking about a northbound ramp that goes left (or used to go lef) from the Brighton track just beyond Atlantic, that's the connection to the DeKalb bypass that was removed as part of the DeKalb reconstruction. It was used by the morning Brighton Specials that stopped at Atlantic with the next stop Chambers Street.

I don't know if rails were ever installed on the ramp up to the Brighton from the bypass on the southbound side. I've never seen a reference to that.

The IND Hillside Ave/Queens Blvd line terminates at 179th Street. That station was opened in 1950. When the trains turn around, the (F)go into tunnel east of the station, and relay there. I would like to know how far east of the station the tunnel extends and if there are any plans to extend the line further. I did see some map that indicated the city originally wanted to extend the line as far as Little Neck Parkway.

If the train stayed on the express track there is a track that ramps down under the elevated part and is not seen again. I have theorized that there is some sort of connection. More speculation and rumor. I think such tunnel structures would have been "re-discovered" by now. Physical evidence like sidewalk grating, etc.

Supposedly though there is a section of Hillside Avenue in the 200s Street range with glass tiles in the sidewalk which may indicate something below street level. Can any of our Queens subchatters confirm or deny this?
