Good thing I had already cancelled what I had planned for tomorrow. If any photographers show up with their models tomorrow and it is not a trade shoot then they will have to pay the model's minimum time (generally 3-4 hours) even if no pics are taken.

NOPE.

Look at your trusty 1964 subway map.
You will *SEE* that they are listed as EXPRESS STOPS.

NOPE!

LION trembles to argue with the doyen of the MTA, but semantics are semantics.

Yes the IND has a great deal of flexibility on Sixth Avenue, and any train *can* go anywhere, they cannot do so without getting in each other's way. Thus for efficient operation what yo are calling the "local" tracks really serve Queens in the north and the Rutgers tunnel in the south. What you are calling the "express" tracks really serve da bronix in the north, and the Manhattan Bridge in the south.

Besides, if you look at the 1964 map it CLEARLY shows that 14th Street and 23rd Street *ARE* "EXPRESS" Stops and are so marked.

That's because in 1964 the bypass tracks were not open yet. IIRC all trains stopped at both 14th and 23rd.

I never thought of it that way, but I kind of agree. In midtown Manhattan, the 6 Ave tracks could be called "express" and "local" but the designations deteriorate north and south of there. The F is an express in Queens and the B is local in upper Manhattan and the Bronx.

Did a trip around the system today. It looks like they were kind of half-assing the Plan 4.

G running its usual weekend pattern - Court Sq to Smith-9, OPTO, 4 cars, deadhead to Church and back. Note that the G was SUPPOSED to run to 71 this weekend, but I guess that's too much to ask for

N running LOCAL in Brooklyn, via Bridge, LOCAL in Manhattan. My R160 made the proper transfer announcements at Pacific & Dekalb

D was running express, including through the bypass

Q was running express

both lines of the IRT were running all local uptown, and normal service downtown (including the 4 turning at Utica)

The 7 was running normal.

I THOUGHT I saw some snowbirds on the express track on 4th Ave, but that would be impossible with D running express. I otherwise didn't see any snowbirds.

Some tracks are available for service during the day Saturday and Sunday but not available evenings and midnights because some snowbirds are needed to run during the day......the winter operations plan calls for 4 car G OPTO to Court Sq. only since at times trains are laid up on express tracks between Roosevelt and Continental and the local tracks can't handle more than 3 services (E/F/R). Maybe not during the day, but around 8 or 9 PM layups begin on those express tracks. Same goes for AM put ins. M-F they come out earlier than on S and S......OPTO M was not. 8 car trains were ran so conductors were hired, usually construction flaggers (who were thrilled to be working the road) whose Go related jobs were cnacelled due to Plan 4.

Conductors can pick jobs called "Construction Flagging". Gets them off the road and away from the public. The higher your number, the higher chance of working the road and very seldom you're flagging. In the case of Plan 4, even the most senior guy could be working the road this weekend.

Would've been real vintage as opposed to pinup and she was willing to do TFCD for this one even though she normally charges an hourly rate that is way over my head.

You would be surprised as to how many women want to pose with this train - I put out a "casting call" on Model Mayhem and received almost 20 responses within hours.

Oh well - looks like I will have to wait for next year...

>>1575 has heard it all. Sticks and stones....<<

All I can say for now only (not then from its regular service past) that #1575 on these Sunday "V" line runs for the Holiday season, so far, have run without any problems. While no personal offense from Mr. Rosen himself at all (he or anyone else is free and allowed to say whatever on his mind), I did hear his comments out loud about his dislike for #1575 and the R-10's in general (as previously on this Subchat forum), when he was on board on one of the train's runs while accompanying his son with him.
