NOPE!LION trembles to argue with the doyen of the MTA, but semantics are semantics. Yes the IND has a great deal of flexibility on Sixth Avenue, and any train *can* go anywhere, they cannot do so without getting in each other's way. Thus for efficient operation what yo are calling the "local" tracks really serve Queens in the north and the Rutgers tunnel in the south. What you are calling the "express" tracks really serve da bronix in the north, and the Manhattan Bridge in the south. Besides, if you look at the 1964 map it CLEARLY shows that 14th Street and 23rd Street *ARE* "EXPRESS" Stops and are so marked. ROARING |
