I'm surprised at the choice considering IRT cars are small and hoilday trains are popular and the 1 is super busy with crowds with regular 1 trains. Thing is gonna be crush loaded just like the Arnines were.Also surprised at the northern terminal choice, thought they would end them at 96th rather than 137th. |

Yeah, look for the NY1 story to air tonight (Tuesday 11/22/2022) after 10:00pm Eastern as the ten-car train was out and about during a shake down run.Yes, look for a pair each in the silver-blue (#9206-9207), redbird (#9586-9587), tartar red (#9016-9017) and WF blue-white (#9307-9308) schemes coupled to the kale green (#9068-9069) pair. It will be interesting to see if the number plates, missing for quite some time, on #9307 and #9308 have been recovered, or be recreated in the same manner like R-32's #3360-3361. More of those ongoing weekend G.O. reconstructions during the same time span being done on the IND-BMT Division, including no access to 207th and Concourse Yards, and track work on the SB CPW local track. 2. Cars #100, #484 and #1575 have been stuck since they were sent back o the TM in August-September 2021, not having been tested and repainted in all that time. A six-car consist (#103, #381, #401, #1000, #1300 and #1802) would have led to crowding concerns, and the re-use of the R-32's was considered, but nixed in the end. -William A. Padron ["Budd"] |

I recall one incident that #6609 was prone to stuck brakes on a #7 line holiday special run many years ago. The shop forces have made no attempts in looking at the car, and have it sent back to the TM. Only #6688 at Shore Line is getting the TLC that its sister car in NYC really needs. -William A. Good to know they won't let it just rot away.Speaking of BERA, I hope one day they can restore 4280. I have a fondness for Chicago's 4000-Series L cars; I remember them well on the Evanston Express. The later ones, known as the Plushies, had trolley poles and as such were ready to run on museum trackage. I heard that 4280 was partially disassembled for its voyage to Shoreline and was never put back together. It looked pretty forlorn the last time I saw it in 2002. |
