In 2000, you may recall that MTA ran a train of brand-new R-142s as a World Series Special on the 4. I know 6311-5 was involved, don't remember the other set. So I'm wondering if the R-211 set would be ready for a special run on the B or D to the Stadium (I don't know their status at the moment) |

As of Friday, September 16, 2022, the R-211 set was still at Coney Island Yard. It is said they are still having propulsion problems, and there is a goal in attempting to have its first 30 day in-service test with passengers in December 2022. -William A. The TA put a wrap promoting a TV Show on a R179 set on the A line not too long ago. They could run a single set of R179s on the D line wrapped in Yankee stripes.One could say, well the D doesn't use R179 s, neither did the 4 use R142s at the time the subway series occurred...R142s were only running on the 2 in Oct 2000 while the 4 was a mix of R62s and Redbirds. So putting a single set of R179s on the (D) for that purpose isn't far fetched lol. |
