The Lo-V train is approaching the 210th Street-Williamsbridge station on the Third Avenue El in the Bronx. It is curving from Gun Hill Road to Webster Avenue going in a southbound direction. This is most likely a fan trip run, probably occurring after regular service on the line ended on Sunday, April 29, 1973.-William A. Padron ["Shuttle"] |

The train is between Seaside (B105) and Playland (B98), going towards Playland. The station canopy of the S/B platform at B98 is visible in the background. The street in the foreground is Rockaway Beach Blvd. The big buildings in the background are still there and still look the same. |

OK, checking and comparing the photo and Google Maps, I agree with your disagree, so I fully stand corrected on this matter. My directional compass in my brain did not fully kick in at the right mode, but I will admit this as a mistake on my part.Looking at the image carefully, the R-1/9's is signed up as an "HH" going to Rockaway Park. The train is indeed leaving Beach 98th-Playland on its way to Beach 105th-Seaside, and to think I have taken so many numerous times over that route through the years of this transit hobby. And so it goes... -William A. Padron ["HH | Fulton St.\Local"] |

As the others have said it is 210th St just off Gun Hill Rd.In this case it is Williamsbridge as the name of the neighborhood. There is a Williamsbridge Road but it isn't anywhere near this area. Most people would not know that the official (but never used anymore) name of the intersection of Gun Hill and White Plains Roads is Williamsbridge Square (I discovered this on an old copy of a Hagstrom map). |

The north end of Williamsbridge Road is fairly close to this area. Its south end is near Westchester Square. Since it does not follow the street grid I would think that it predates it. There are numerous similar streets in the city that were simply named for the place or neighborhood they led to. Some of them have been renamed or changed to numbered streets over the years and others have had their names left as they were years ago. |
