A. changes (BTW, by then, I think it was Los Angeles Transit Lines rather than Los Angeles Railway) was due to the L. A. street department (whatever it was back then, today it is LADOT (Department of Transportation)) changing 5th and 6th Streets to one-way operations (westbound and eastbound separately). The 3 line didn't actually go away, it was converted to trolley bus operation, which lasted until the very last day of trolley service in L. A., March 30, 1963. |

I believe that gate cars replaced the Composites, as they were removed from service to have their motors installed on the "Q's". Does anyone know when the last gate cars ran on the 3rd Ave el? |

Does anyone know when the last gate cars ran on the 3rd Ave el? I cannot answer your question directly. I can say that as of November 23, 1949, before the arrival of the "Q"'s the following el cars were available for service: 59 Gate Motors, 23 Gate Trailers, 259 MUDC Motors, 173 MUDC Trailers, 95 Composite Motors. The 59 Gate Motors includes the twenty of so motor cars operating on the Dyre Avenue Line. Hopefully Joe for the NYC Modelers Group will see this post. If anyone would know he would.
