The Incident (1967) |
|
Posted by Chris R16/R2730 on Sat Nov 21 13:59:23 2020 I'm currently watching this movie on FXM. I've never seen it on any list of the usual subway related movies (Pelham 123, FBI Story, The Warriors). Great shots of WF Low V cars and the Bronx 3rd Ave el.https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0061814/ |

I just watched that movie on the fire stick a couple Friday nights ago. The subway stuff is great but it’s infuriating watching those two fool terrorize the passengers on that train. |

Interesting about that movie was the car that they were riding in was a studio mockup constructed using actual car blueprints. I've mentioned this before but the characters played by Jan Sterling and Brock Peters were my least favorites. |

Especially since it takes place on an el and the Third Ave el in Manhattan was long gone by 1967.Never mind the Bronx stops and stations featured along the way. Perhaps you’re thinking of a different film? |

When they first came over to the mainline from Queens, they ran on Pelham along with some standard bodied Steinways. When the R-17s came on the property, the first cars to be removed were the Hi-Vs followed by the standard bodied Steinways and W/Fs that were then transferred to the West Side IRT expresses. |

I think the trip begins on Jerome, because the later scenes have the train stopping at underground 138 and 125, and two of the passengers board at 167, which is on Jerome Avenue. |

They initially replaced the Gibbs Hi-Vs because the TA wanted all the Hi-Vs off the road as early as possible. The same thing happened on Bway. the Bway Exp always needed a few trains ofLo-Vs to make full service so as new cars were assigned to those lines the first cars to go were the Hi-Vs followed by the few remaining Lo-Vs that both of those lines had. |
