Interesting about that movie was the car that they were riding in was a studio mockup constructed using actual car blueprints. I've mentioned this before but the characters played by Jan Sterling and Brock Peters were my least favorites. |

When they first came over to the mainline from Queens, they ran on Pelham along with some standard bodied Steinways. When the R-17s came on the property, the first cars to be removed were the Hi-Vs followed by the standard bodied Steinways and W/Fs that were then transferred to the West Side IRT expresses. |

They initially replaced the Gibbs Hi-Vs because the TA wanted all the Hi-Vs off the road as early as possible. The same thing happened on Bway. the Bway Exp always needed a few trains ofLo-Vs to make full service so as new cars were assigned to those lines the first cars to go were the Hi-Vs followed by the few remaining Lo-Vs that both of those lines had. |
