Now if all tracks on the lower level could be terminating tracks to return trains to Manhattan, that would be different. Mike |

Just the opposite - its science that has yet to explain the "Big Bang" hypothesis. There is no theory to explain the origin of the superheated, superconcentrated ball of matter that exploded, forming the known universe.Religion does not have to prove anything. Faith, by definition, believes in the intangible and the invisible, things that cannot be proven. |

Science is at least honest about what it knows and doesn’t know. And things that are “intangible” and “invisible” can definitely be proven. Nobody’s ever seen a neutrino, but science knows they exist. |

There isn't even enough capacity on the 4th Avenue line to absorb that many trains without diverting trains from Bay Ridge or Sea Beach or cutting back West End trains. If there were a need for that many trains, then they would be better off running them to Bay Parkway or even 62nd Street. Wallyhorse just likes to come up with service plans for the sake of service plans. |

Posted by Nilet on Tue Aug 13 01:47:51 2019, in response to Re: 9 Av, posted by Olog-hai on Tue Aug 13 01:05:03 2019. That was thought of by a Catholic theologian, not any scientist. This is meaningless and incoherent. Science is an endeavour— it's something you do, not something you are. Anybody can do science, and there's nothing that can make your actions intrinsically scientific. So if a Catholic theologian discovers the origin of the universe through observation and experimentation, then the question of how the universe came to be has been answered by science. And if a squad of people who dedicated their careers to doing science reject that discovery because it conflicts with their deeply-held beliefs, then the discovery was rejected irrationally because of blind faith, and in direct contravention of science. So even if the first half of your claim (before the comma) is true, the entire claim would be meaningless. |
