That was thought of by a Catholic theologian, not any scientist.

This is meaningless and incoherent. Science is an endeavour— it's something you do, not something you are. Anybody can do science, and there's nothing that can make your actions intrinsically scientific.

So if a Catholic theologian discovers the origin of the universe through observation and experimentation, then the question of how the universe came to be has been answered by science. And if a squad of people who dedicated their careers to doing science reject that discovery because it conflicts with their deeply-held beliefs, then the discovery was rejected irrationally because of blind faith, and in direct contravention of science.

So even if the first half of your claim (before the comma) is true, the entire claim would be meaningless.
