The new high rises going up around there would not tolerate an elevated station I think.

20 years old? Do you mean 50? 1946 to 1998 (when the line was closed for rebuilding) was 52 years.

The line was closed in 1969. I don’t know where you’re getting 1998. Are you confusing it with the Franklin Avenue Shuttle for some weird reason?

I thought he was talking about the Franklin Shuttle, yes. I couldn't actually read the text in that newspaper article. Oops.

The Myrtle Jay Street station was rebuilt into the terminal in 1944 after the cutback.

Myrtle between Bridge and Jay st is indeed right down the middle of the Metrotech complex actually. However that's the pedestrian walking area with the buildings on both sides of it so theoretically it would not have affected the placement of the building within the Metrotech campus.

I went there yesterday, first time in 49 years. (Also had a nice meal at Apollo coffee shop, great and well patronized B&N bookstore, line getting into Transit Museum).

I don't see anyway the building owners would want the el restored along the Bridge-Jay promenade. Just north of there is another matter. Shame there is no historical markers. Few if any people there today have any clue as to what was once there.

There has go to be a good market for Bushwick/Ridgewood residents headed to Metrotech and other downtown Brooklyn venues, such as county government and numerous colleges. But they are obviously not taking the B54.
